Disneyland's (non-alcoholic) Mint Julep Recipe

Lemon, lime and mint combine to make the perfect refreshment: 
The Mint Julep. 
Disneyland's version is non-alcoholic, 
making it a beverage the whole family can enjoy!

Mint Julep
*makes 2 pints of syrup

Ingredients:

3 cups club soda
1 cup sugar
3 teaspoons lime juice
6 ounces frozen lemonade, thawed
6 tablespoons Creme de Menthe syrup (found near coffee syrups/flavorings or see below for recipe)
2-3 drops green food coloring (optional)
fresh mint leaves
pineapple chunks (optional)
maraschino cherries (optional)


Directions:

Pour 3 cups club soda into a medium-sized pot. Add sugar, lime juice and lemonade. Stir with a wire whisk. Heat to a rolling boil until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat. Add Creme de Menthe syrup*. Stir well. Let cool and then place in fridge to chill.

Pour chilled syrup into serving glass and then add cold water (3 parts syrup to 5 parts water). Add food coloring (optional) and stir. Add ice and a sprig of fresh mint. Stick pineapple and cherries on a skewer and insert into glass (optional). Serve cold.

*If you cannot locate Creme de Menthe syrup, use the following recipe to make your own:


Creme de Menthe Syrup

Ingredients:

1 cup water
2 cups sugar
1 tablespoon Creme de Menthe extract (found in baking aisle, near vanilla extract)

Directions:

Pour water and sugar into a saucepan. Bring to a boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat. Add extract. Let cool overnight. Store in a jar or bottle.
