Performing during the parade will be Lady Antebellum, The Backstreet Boys and the cast of Newsies. You'll get a glimpse of new park attractions, Disney characters and of course, everyone's favorite - Santa Claus.

Just in time for Christmas, the newest episode of The Disney Diner is here! This week's episode features the recipes for Mickey Mouse Sugar Cookies and Glaze Icing. These soft cookies are light and sweet with a hint of lemon. They will make a great dessert for upcoming holiday parties or gatherings. And you can even give them as gifts! Click below to watch how easy it is to make these yummy cookies:
The above picture shows my Mickey wreath. I got it a couple of years ago at The Disney Store (you can easily make the wreath with one large and two small wreaths wired together) and it looks quite pathetic now. The bow is smashed from being in storage and the berries have lost all the red felt covering them.
So I made a trip to our local Dollar Tree and bought a spool of pretty wired ribbon, a sleeve of multi-colored Christmas balls, a pick of red glitter berries and a door hanger with bells so I could hear the jingle-jangle of Christmas whenever the door opened. :D
I carefully removed the old ribbon and berries and hot-glued the new decorations. I'm really happy with my "brand-new" Mickey wreath. And it only cost me $4. (Gotta love Dollar Tree) It looks so much more Disney-esque. What do you think?
There's only one thing better than a gingerbread cookie
during Christmas and that's a Gingerbread Mickey!
Make your own this holiday season
following this easy recipe.
Disneyland & Disney World's Gingerbread Recipe
*yield 3 dozen cookies
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup dark molasses
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 teaspoons ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
1/2 cup water
In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and brown sugar. Add dark molasses and mix until completely blended. Sift the dry ingredients together and add to butter mixture, 1/3 at a time, alternating with the the water. Blend well.
Wrap dough in plastic wrap and chill in refrigerator at least 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease cookie sheets (or line with parchment paper). Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface and cut into desired shapes. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Cool on wire racks.
Decorate with Royal Icing (recipe follows) when completely cooled.
Royal Icing (for gingerbread Mickeys, men and houses)
1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar
2 egg whites
3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
Add cream of tartar to egg whites in a chilled mixing bowl. Beat with an electric mixer at high speed until white peaks form. Reduce speed and gradually add sifted powdered sugar. Continue to whip the frosting until a smooth, spreadable consistency is reached.
Separate frosting into small bowls and add food coloring (if desired). Spoon into cake decorating bags (or freezer bags with the corner tip cut off) and decorate cookies. The frosting will harden when dry.
*Tip: Make sure all utensils are free of grease and oil and egg whites do not have any yolk in them. The egg whites will not whip if any oil or yolk is present.

If like me, you were unable to attend yesterday's festivities at Magic Kingdom Park, you can watch them on this video from InsideTheMagic. It includes Ginnifer Goodwin (Snow White on 'Once Upon a Time') and Jordin Sparks (American Idol Winner 2007) along with a special speaking appearance by Mickey Mouse. Sparks kicks off the event with a medley of Disney favorites accompanied by the corresponding characters. Click below to watch now:
I don't know about you but I can't wait to get there and walk through New Fantasyland. Come on February!! :D
Check out this cute Mickey craft I found on Pinterest. Simply color the top third of a red glass ball ornament with a Sharpee and then glue 2 buttons to the bottom half (I'd use yellow buttons). That's it! Now you have your own set of Mickey ornaments!
