Banana-Berry Smoothie Recipe

    I like to make breakfast smoothies for my family at least three times a week. It's a great way to start the day because they are both nutritious and delicious (and the best part is that there are very few dishes to clean up afterwards). :D

   Here's the recipe. Enjoy!!

Banana-Berry Smoothie
*makes about 48 ounces


16 ounces reduced-fat milk or almond milk
1 cup plain non-fat yogurt
1 1/2 cup frozen strawberries
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 banana, peeled and cut into large chunks
1 cup fresh spinach (optional)
1 tablespoon wheat germ (optional)
1 tablespoon ground flaxseeds (optional)
1 tablespoon chia seeds (I purchase them from Click HERE for $10 off your first order.)


   Pour the milk and yogurt into your blender first. Then add the remaining ingredients. Blend on High (or press the "Smoothie" or "Milkshake" buttons on your blender if you have them) until well incorporated. Pour into Disney cups (of course) and serve cold.

*I like to change it up occasionally so here are a few variations.


Orange Julius Smoothie - omit the blueberries and add 1 cup of orange juice

Fruit Juice Smoothie - I save the juice from canned fruit like mandarin oranges and add it in. Reduce milk to 8 ounces if adding juice.

Berry-Peach Smoothie - omit the bananas and add in 1 cup of canned peaches

Protein Smoothie - mix in 1 scoop of either vanilla-flavored whey or soy protein powder

**Also, sometimes I pour it into a bowl and top it with my Homemade Granola. Yum!!
