Performing during the parade will be Lady Antebellum, The Backstreet Boys and the cast of Newsies. You'll get a glimpse of new park attractions, Disney characters and of course, everyone's favorite - Santa Claus.
Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade airs on December 25th on ABC at 10 a.m./9 a.m. Central.
Just in time for Christmas, the newest episode of The Disney Diner is here! This week's episode features the recipes for Mickey Mouse Sugar Cookies and Glaze Icing. These soft cookies are light and sweet with a hint of lemon. They will make a great dessert for upcoming holiday parties or gatherings. And you can even give them as gifts! Click below to watch how easy it is to make these yummy cookies:
The above picture shows my Mickey wreath. I got it a couple of years ago at The Disney Store (you can easily make the wreath with one large and two small wreaths wired together) and it looks quite pathetic now. The bow is smashed from being in storage and the berries have lost all the red felt covering them.
So I made a trip to our local Dollar Tree and bought a spool of pretty wired ribbon, a sleeve of multi-colored Christmas balls, a pick of red glitter berries and a door hanger with bells so I could hear the jingle-jangle of Christmas whenever the door opened. :D
I carefully removed the old ribbon and berries and hot-glued the new decorations. I'm really happy with my "brand-new" Mickey wreath. And it only cost me $4. (Gotta love Dollar Tree) It looks so much more Disney-esque. What do you think?
There's only one thing better than a gingerbread cookie
during Christmas and that's a Gingerbread Mickey!
Make your own this holiday season
following this easy recipe.
Disneyland & Disney World's Gingerbread Recipe
*yield 3 dozen cookies
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup dark molasses
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 teaspoons ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
1/2 cup water
In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and brown sugar. Add dark molasses and mix until completely blended. Sift the dry ingredients together and add to butter mixture, 1/3 at a time, alternating with the the water. Blend well.
Wrap dough in plastic wrap and chill in refrigerator at least 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease cookie sheets (or line with parchment paper). Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface and cut into desired shapes. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Cool on wire racks.
Decorate with Royal Icing (recipe follows) when completely cooled.
Royal Icing (for gingerbread Mickeys, men and houses)
1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar
2 egg whites
3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
Add cream of tartar to egg whites in a chilled mixing bowl. Beat with an electric mixer at high speed until white peaks form. Reduce speed and gradually add sifted powdered sugar. Continue to whip the frosting until a smooth, spreadable consistency is reached.
Separate frosting into small bowls and add food coloring (if desired). Spoon into cake decorating bags (or freezer bags with the corner tip cut off) and decorate cookies. The frosting will harden when dry.
*Tip: Make sure all utensils are free of grease and oil and egg whites do not have any yolk in them. The egg whites will not whip if any oil or yolk is present.

If like me, you were unable to attend yesterday's festivities at Magic Kingdom Park, you can watch them on this video from InsideTheMagic. It includes Ginnifer Goodwin (Snow White on 'Once Upon a Time') and Jordin Sparks (American Idol Winner 2007) along with a special speaking appearance by Mickey Mouse. Sparks kicks off the event with a medley of Disney favorites accompanied by the corresponding characters. Click below to watch now:
I don't know about you but I can't wait to get there and walk through New Fantasyland. Come on February!! :D
Check out this cute Mickey craft I found on Pinterest. Simply color the top third of a red glass ball ornament with a Sharpee and then glue 2 buttons to the bottom half (I'd use yellow buttons). That's it! Now you have your own set of Mickey ornaments!
Sorry about the delay, my sons hijacked my computer (with good reason, they had a very important film project) for the better part of the day. But alas, it is finally here: the newest episode of The Disney Diner!! In this week's episode I show you how to make Le Cellier's Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup at home. This is the most requested item on their menu and the perfect way to warm up during the coming winter months. Enjoy!

Blast into the past with this delicious pot roast from

50's Prime Time Cafe: Mom's Old-Fashioned Pot Roast *serves 8
4 lbs. bottom round roast
salt & pepper
1/4 cup olive oil
1 large onion, diced
4 carrots, peeled and sliced into chunks
2 stalks of celery, diced

Remove from pan and set into a roasting pan. Saute the cut vegetables in the same pan you used for browning (with the meat juices). Cook for 10 minutes until vegetables are golden brown and onions are translucent. Add in the beef broth and let simmer on high for 15 minutes until vegetables are tender. Add salt and pepper to taste. Pour cooked vegetables and broth over the roast and place in oven for 2 hours and 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Remove from oven and let rest at least 15 minutes before carving. Serve over a pile of homemade mashed potatoes. Yum!

In case you haven't heard, Disney is opening two Starbucks locations in 2013. The first will be located in Magic Kingdom's Main Street Bakery, the prime location for baked goods and snacks. The bakery will close in January for refurbishment (Nooooo!!!! I'm going in February and have been looking forward to eating here.) and reopen by summer. The second location is Fountain View, in Epcot's FutureWorld, it will close in March and reopen as a Starbucks in midsummer.
It is reported that the location theming will remain with cast members in the Main Street Bakery wearing 20th century costumes and Fountain View cast members garbed in futuristic wear. Main Street will also continue to serve some of your Disney favorites like cookies, brownies and seasonal cupcakes in addition to the full-line of Starbucks signature beverages and baked goods. Once this closure happens, Main Street's famous cinnamon rolls will be available for purchase at Gaston's Tavern in the New Fantasyland (or you can make them at home following this recipe). Their enormous ice cream cookie sandwiches will be found next door at the Plaza Ice Cream parlor on Main Street.
Honestly, I'm not looking forward to these changes. I love the old time feeling that walking down Main Street always gives me and I hope there won't be some kind of huge Starbucks sign jutting out to take away from that. I am especially not happy that the coffee giant is taking my favorite stop in the mornings hostage during the time of my visit. :(
What do you think about this merge? And how do you feel about the upcoming changes to these two locations? Let us know in the comments below.
Thanksgiving is fast approaching and if you will be spending the day in Walt Disney World you may want to know where you can get your hands on some turkey, so I made a list of the locations that will be offering Thanksgiving meals. Reservations are highly recommended for the table service dining locations listed above, availability can be checked by calling 407-WDW-DINE. Please note these locations can be booked weeks and even months in advance. If there is no availability, you can call back the day of to see if there were any last minute cancellations. If still no luck, then try one of the quick service locations from the list, they don't require any reservations, and the food is often ready much quicker, allowing you for more time for attractions or shows. And if worse comes to worse, there are always the turkey leg carts in the parks. They are absolutely delicious and will satisfy your turkey-craving in an instant. Don't forget to take a pic of your whole family with a leg in hand so you can remember how you spent the holiday. And hey, who says you can't make the whole feast once you get back home - because after all, Thanksgiving should be every day. ;)
