Tuesday's Travel Tip: Dining with Allergies in Walt Disney World

If you or a family member has a food allergy or intolerance, you'll be happy to know that Walt Disney World is well-prepared and accustomed to handling these dining situations.

For Table Service Restaurants:

When you call 407-WDW-DINE to make your Disney World Dining reservations, please inform the Cast Member on the line before making your reservations. They will note the allergies on each reservation and give you the following information:

All Walt Disney World® resort table service restaurants that accept reservations may accommodate special dietary requests (such as allergies to gluten or wheat, shellfish, soy, lactose or milk, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, or eggs) if requested in advance.  Please advise guests to contact specialdiets@disneyworld.com  at least 2 weeks prior to their reservation for assistance.  This email address is available for special dietary requests for table service and quick service locations.

In addition, the guest can visit www.disneyworld.com/specialdiets for more information. For guests who request to personally speak to someone about their special dietary request or are booking within 2 weeks of their dining arrangement/quick service dine experience, please have them call the special dietary requests main phone number, 407-824-5967.  The hours of operation of the special dietary requests office is 8 am - 5 pm, Monday -  Friday.  If the guests sends a message or calls on the weekend or a holiday, a cast member will contact them on the next business day.  Guests can also ask to speak to a chef upon arrival to the restaurant.

If you are booking your dining reservations online on www.disneyworld.com/dining, you can note the allergies on your reservations as well.

For Quick Service Restaurants:

Guests can still call 407-824-5967 for the special dietary requests line or e-mail: specialdiets@disneyworld.com for information. The following quick service dine locations have menu items and products that, upon request, may accommodate guests common food allergies or intolerance requirements:

Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park

Disney's Hollywood Studios

Backlot Express
Studios Catering Co.
ABC Commissary
Pizza Planet

Epcot Theme Park

Liberty Inn
Sunshine Seasons

Magic Kingdom Theme Park

Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe
Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn

And after the reservations have been noted and you have spoken to the special dietary request line, please also advise your host or server once you arrive at the dine location. They will be happy to discuss your options and alert the chef of your dining requirements.

For pre-packaged items, please read all food labels before purchasing.

If you wish to bring in your own food items*, please inform a Security Cast Member at the bag check point near the entrance of each park. Glass containers are not allowed.

For guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort who have items that need to be refrigerated, please ask the Front Desk Cast Member to have a refrigerator placed in the room (at additional cost).

I hope this information has relieved you of any concerns about dining with food allergies in Walt Disney World. Just follow the above steps and you will not have any hiccups during your trips and can concentrate on enjoying your time spent in Disney. :)

*Cast Members are prohibited from handling, storing, preparing, cooking or reheating any food brought into resorts or theme parks by guests.
