The Garden Grill: Cornbread and Apple Stuffing Recipe

The Garden Grill: Cornbread and Apple Stuffing

2 Granny Smith apples, peeled and diced
1  14 - 16 ounce package cornbread stuffing mix
2 sticks butter
1/2 cup apple cider or juice
1 cup turkey or chicken broth
1 cup celery, diced
1 onion, diced
1 tablespoon sage

In a saucepot, heat the apple cider and broth. Let it simmer on medium-low.

In a separate pan, melt the butter. Once it has melted, pour in the diced apples, onions, celery and sage. Saute until tender then remove from heat.

Pour your stuffing into a large bowl. Add in the cooked apples, onions and celery. Stir with a large spoon to combine. Next, take the hot cider/broth and pour it over the stuffing mixture and blend well. Salt and pepper to taste. Once it has been incorporated, spoon it into a casserole dish, cover with a sheet of aluminum foil and keep warm in a low temperature oven until ready to serve. Makes a great side for turkey, ham or chicken. Enjoy!
