Today marks the 40th Anniversary of The Walt Disney World Resort. Crowds gathered in Magic Kingdom this morning for the festivities which included a special parade followed by a speeches from both Walt Disney World President, Meg Crofton and Magic Kingdom Vice-President, Phil Holmes.
Following that, The Dapper Dans, Magic Kingdom's own barbershop quartet, led guests in a singalong rendition of "When You Wish Upon a Star".
Park guests received commemorative buttons and maps including a reproduction of the original park map from opening day in 1971. They were also given the opportunity to purchase limited edition merchandise, a one-day only commemorative T-shirt and special cupcakes from Main St. Bakery.
The celebration will conclude this evening with "Wishes" at 9 p.m. and an extended fireworks finale.
And if you weren't able to get to the park today, you can still download a digital version of the commemorative map that was given out to guests in Magic Kingdom today by clicking HERE. What a great keepsake!
