Flame Tree BBQ: Barbecue Sauce Recipe

Flame Tree BBQ: Barbecue Sauce
*yields 1 1/2 cups


1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup light brown sugar
2 tablespoons molasses
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 tablespoon paprika
2 tablespoons onion powder
1 teaspoon ground tumeric
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves


   In a large saucepan, combine the ketchup, rice wine vinegar and water. Add in the brown sugar, molasses, worcestershire sauce, chili powder, paprika, onion powder, tumeric, cumin, garlic powder and ground cloves. Stir well.

   Bring this mixture to a simmer over medium heat for 5 minutes. Then reduce heat to low and cook for 30 more minutes, stirring often, until thickened. Brush on meat or poultry or use as a dipping sauce.

  *Can be stored covered in refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
